The drover’s dream

Traditional Australian

Save

A ballad about a ‘drover’ - an Australian term meaning someone who herds large groups of animals, usually sheep, over long distances -  who falls asleep while droving his flock and has a fantastic dream about all sorts of animals who play instruments, sing songs and tell stories. The animals he dreams about are all found particularly in Australia, including the kangaroo, the dingo (an Australian wild dog),

the brolga (an Australian wetland bird),

the frill-necked lizard and the goanna (types of lizard),

the emu (the largest bird native to Australia),

and the wombat.
