Burwell Village College has reached a Sing Up milestone: they now have not one, but all three Sing Up Awards. In the past 18 months their hard work has seen them progess through Silver, Gold and now Platinum!
The School began their Awards journey in August 2008, led by their Awards Champion, Nicola Plumb. They've gone from having a singing assembly once a week to singing in classrooms, assemblies and the playground everyday.
Miss Plumb encouraged all the teachers to get involved; singing packs and singing diaries were put into every classroom. Song squads for children were also created to feedback what classroom singing activities were taking place.
Dr Frankie Williams who endorsed Burwell’s Awards is full of praise. 'The progression (through the Awards) has been really important and has seen the children’s confidence grow.'
Burwell achieved their Platinum Award at the end of 2009, and have gone on to perform in their community and at large gatherings including singing with local secondary school.
