"But I can’t sing! How can I teach these songs to the children in my class?!"
Even some of the most confident teachers can find it daunting when faced with the idea of having to teach singing. Some of this may stem from being told as children that they weren’t good enough or being made to worry about how their voice sounded rather than simply being able to enjoy the music and have fun. Sing Up aims to encourage children to think of singing as something that is an integral part of the school curriculum and easily accessible to everybody. One way of doing this is to encourage a ‘whole school’ approach to singing through singing assemblies.
The Sing Up Magazine includes a CD containing full vocal performances and backing tracks for all of the songs to assist you with teaching the songs. Any of the trickier songs also have additional teaching tracks to make your life just that little bit easier.
There will also be regular features on topics such as taking care of young voices and teaching group singing.
