FAQs:

  • Q: What is streaming?

A: “Streaming” is when you play a song live from our website by clicking the ‘play’ icon next to a song. This includes any from the Song Bank, in your favourites list or in any playlists you have created. This is not a ‘download’; the file doesn’t get saved anywhere and you must have internet connection to stream from the website.

If you click the ‘preview’ button and only hear 30 seconds of the song, this is not a stream.

A “stream” is one play of a song.

Your streaming allocation is based on your membership, and these are per year, to share between your Sing Up registered colleagues:

    For schools, the allocations are:

    • Small (less than 100 pupils): 800 streams
    • Medium (101-250 pupils): 900 streams
    • Large (251+ pupils): 1000 streams

You can stream every song from our 500+ strong collection and it's a great way of using other songs from the Song Bank in lessons when you know you may not need the song for further future use. If you think you’ll be using the song a lot, you might consider downloading it.

  • Q: What are download credits?

A: Each download credit will unlock a wealth of content that we’ve specifically created for that song. You will unlock: all audio tracks (including performance, backing, echo and slowed-down echo track), all sheet music, song sheets and instrumental parts and all other resources, including, where available, our unique Accessible Learning Resources (braille song sheets, BSL and Makaton signed videos, Clicker 5 and Voca files and more). All members will also still have full access to our innovative song-specific activity ideas and lesson plans including curriculum links. Comparing these fantastic resources with what’s available on the market, we know this is incredibly good value.

How to use a download credit
To use your download credits, search for your favourite song on the Song Bank, open the page and click the green ‘download’ icon to the left of the track. If the icon says ‘Free’, you’ll already have the song in your My Sing Up Library.

If you don’t know the song already, it’s always a good idea to stream or preview the song before downloading it to try it out.

Once you click ‘download’, a window will pop-up asking you to open or save a Zip file. Zip files allow you to download lots of files in one go. One credit ‘unlocks’ a whole song, including all backing tracks, echo tracks, performance tracks and tailor-made teaching resources for that song. All of these are included in the Zip file which you’ll need to save to your computer. You can then open it up and see all the content there for you to use on- and off-line as much as you want.

The song will also appear in your Library from now on. If you accidentally select to download the song again, don’t worry – the system will know that you have already downloaded it and won’t use another credit up.

    Already a member?
Sing Up Membership for schools/organisations doesn't include download credits, but you will have instant access to our exclusive digital songbook.

Our digital songbook features 100 favourite songs from the Song Bank which are automatically applied to your account for your unlimited on- and off-line use. Check out your My Sing Up Library to see these tracks. Then just click on the green 'Free' or ‘Download’ icon next to the track to download the file to your computer for unlimited use. This will 'unlock' the file, meaning that you have unlimited access to all backing tracks, echo tracks, performance tracks and tailor-made teaching resources for that song.

Any songs you may have downloaded using your allocated credits before 31st March will also be in your Library. These and any others in your Library are yours to keep.

  • Q: When do I need to have paid by in order to get my Early Bird Discount benefits?

A: If you have ordered with Early Bird Discount, we are flexible about when we receive payment, (for example, if you need to pay from next year’s budget). However, your membership will not begin until we have received payment, and if this is after April 1st, your account will be suspended until payment is received. We will begin to chase payment after the beginning of April.

In order to get your Early Bird Discount credits, we need to have received payment by 6pm on 26th March, otherwise we won’t have time to add them and for you to use them up before membership begins.

  • Q: When do I need to use my Early Bird Discount bonus credits by?

A: The songs you use your credits on will stay in your library when membership begins, but since your counter will be reset on April 1st, you need to have used your credits by 31st March. This does not include extra credits and top-ups you have purchased as part of your membership, which will be in your account when your membership begins.

  • Q: I’ve ordered membership taking advantage of Early Bird Discount– where are my bonus credits?

A: We will add your credits when we have received payment, but please allow a few days for this as we are a small team and do this manually. If you think you haven’t received credits where you should have, please tell us.

Please note that you must use all your credits by 31 March 2012 as all counters will be reset on 1 April. To ensure that you receive your bonus download credits with the Early Bird Discount, you must pay by 26 March at 6pm.

  • Q: Our school size is wrong on your site.

A: If you think we have your school’s pupil roll figures wrong, please get in touch with us.

  • Q: We’re a full-age range school, but our pupil roll number is made up of pupils from 3-16. Can we just pay for the primary-aged children?

A: Yes, if you think your roll number should be smaller, but we are counting all of the pupils in the school, get in touch with us. We will need to see some confirmation (ie, from the Good Schools Guide, Ofsted details, your prospectus or a screen-grab from your administrator) confirming the number of primary children to make the change.

  • Q: Can I pay for membership with Early Bird Discount out of next year’s budget?

A: Yes, you can. If you place your order now and keep the invoice, you can pay it when you are ready to. Since the membership will not begin until 1st April, it is reasonable to use your next year’s budget. However, you will need to order this whilst Early Bird Discount is open to get the discount, even if you opt to pay it in the first few weeks of April.

Please note that, in order to get the six bonus credits with your Early Bird Discount, we need to have received payment by 6pm on 26th March, otherwise we won’t have time to add them and for you to use them up before membership begins. You will also need to use all of your download credits by 31 March. Your discount will still stand if you pay after this.

  • Q: I’m getting a message saying I’m not a school, but we are a school!

A: The most likely reason for this is that at some point you have registered twice, have more than one login by your name, or some other error has confused the system. These will need to be resolved for your order to go through, so get in touch with us.
