A: Sing Up is committed to providing exceptional value for money and will continue to operate on a not-for-profit basis.
A: Sing Up was started because we believed every child had a right to daily access to good quality singing and we continue to hold this as our core value. We also continue to believe in singing as a powerful social and educational tool. We have a commitment to our users and future members to meet their educational and musical needs, stay fresh and continue to support their singing journeys by providing access to high quality resources and training.

A: Though we value all of our users equally and understand that the Sing Up site is crucial to all of you, with 98% of state primary schools registered with Sing Up, we felt we needed to address schools’ needs immediately. We are continuing to research and evaluate how to best meet the needs of Freelancers, Organisations, Music Services, and all other user-types, but in the current economic climate, we want to ensure children still have access to good quality singing as part of their daily school lives. Our Early Bird Discount gives us a chance to reduce the cost to schools, at a time when we know budgets are tight.
If you are a Freelancer, Organisation or Music Service that would like to help inform our research for other membership packages, please get in touch.
A: The full membership scheme will launch in April 2012, at the start of the new financial year, but schools will be able to save on their membership fee with an Early Bird Discount by pre-paying for membership from January 2012. This initial offer is just for schools but all users will be able to sign up from April.
How did you decide how much membership would cost?
A:
We have tried to keep the cost of membership to the absolute minimum without fundamentally changing the nature of the Sing Up package. This has been difficult to achieve having received funding of £9m per year from DfE, which, if we had simply shared as a cost across all schools in England would have come to around £500 per school.
Sing Up is still working on a not-for-profit basis but needs to generate an income in order to continue. Although we’ve been able to bring you Sing Up free of charge until now due to Government funding, there is, and always has been, a real cost associated with all that we offer. We understand the difficulties posed by tight budgets and the current economic climate, so we’ll help by providing some fundraising advice and ideas.
