Thank you for an amazing Sing Up Day 2018

Thanks for spreading some singing with us on 14 March

Thank you for an amazing Sing Up Day 2018

Thank you for making 14 March 2018 one of the best and most powerful Sing Up Days yet.

Sing Up Day this year was powerful and exciting. With events from Malta to Malaysia and the UK to Kuwait, thousands of people all over the world raised their voices to encourage everyone to be the change they want to see in the world. All of the photos, videos and stories you shared with us showed us the power of singing to bring people together. You can remember the day and take a look at other schools' participation in our #SingUpDay 2018 Twitter moment.

Who took part in Sing Up Day 2018?

  • Over 260 events worldwide
  • Over 500 schools and groups
  • 32 countries
  • 5 continents
  • 13 time zones
  • Over 5500 singers
  • Singers of all ages including primary schools, secondary schools, teachers’ choirs, community groups and more

It was a real joy to see more countries and more secondary school and adult singers joining in with us this year. The power of singing together continues to spread!

Some of the highlights

St Saviours

This school started their celebrations the night before Sing Up Day by having a campfire singalong with their year 6 students. The following day was full of singing, with a morning family singalong and an afternoon assembly where each class performed their favourite songs.

Sudley Junior School

We love this idea: parents and carers were invited to join in with a 'Sing for a cuppa' event. If they joined in with the singing, they would be rewarded with tea and cake. After the singing lesson for the adults, the whole school joined in for a big sing of Be the change. Watch them sing together here.

West Sussex Music

The young singers of West Sussex were treated to a big sing event with the composer of our Sing Up Day anthem Be the change, Emily Barden.

Heathbrook Primary

We LOVE this video. This school put up 'stop and sing' signs throughout the playground and buildings, where students were encouraged to stop and sing whatever they liked. It worked beautifully.

The British School in The Netherlands

We're big fans of this. BSN are preparing for their 'International Week' and used Sing Up Day to practice some of the international songs from our Song Bank. You can see them singing Si njay njay njay here. What a great way to spread songs around the world.

This was our first Sing Up event,The Rock Academy, Cape Town. Thank you for a wonderful experience for us all. Our School motto is "Changed lives, changing lives" and this echoed in our hearts as we sang on Wednesday morning. I am going to spread the awareness in our city about getting involved in Sing Up 2019!
