Music and the Deaf are working nationally to encourage Deaf children (and others with special needs) to find their voice. This may not be vocal, it may be signing, or some other form of communication, and such forms of expression should be valued and explored within Sing Up.

 

Aims and Objectives

• To encourage deaf children to sing and/or vocalise
• To encourage deaf children to develop signed song skills
• To encourage deaf children to write and create their own songs
• To give deaf children opportunities for performance
• To encourage hearing children to learn to sign songs
• To provide training for singers, leaders, etc. to work with deaf children
• To establish good role models for signed song
• To encourage all Sing Up Strands to look at appropriate access for all events
• To promote inclusion for all
• To provide support and advice for any Sing Up members on singing with deaf children and signed song.
