An exciting programme of schools and community outreach activities has been planned in the East. Over 2,000 young people aged between 4 and 18 will take part in a series of singing projects across Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.
Plans include a large-scale recording of a Euro 2008 Football song celebrating different cultures love and passion for the game as well as football chants and Hakka's, written and sung by local football and rugby clubs.
There will also be the opportunity for International exchanges and residences for young people and singing tutors as part of Seachanges International programme for 2008 and 2009. Partner countries include Portugal, Finland and France.
Work with the extended schools service in both towns will include supporting breakfast singing clubs and developing whole school singing projects; including the opportunity to sing alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra during an outdoor concert at Norfolk showground with 8,000 other pupils.
Singing clubs will be set up to support young rock bands develop new vocal pieces of work as well as incorporating beat box, MCing and rapping sessions for young people excluded from school.
Alongside the programme of activities, a CPD and workforce development programme will be delivered to help support local singers and facilitators hone their singing skills as well as teach across a range of community settings. Mentors, shadowing opportunities and master classes will form part of the offer.
