Bolton

Our vision is to equip children and their teachers with the skills and confidence to reach their full potential and we believe that increased access to music, through singing, will play a key role in achieving this.

We are committed to equipping and supporting teachers to sing and to lead singing confidently so that it is at the heart of daily school life.

The following projects are intended to celebrate Bolton's diversity and encourage children to use their voices to explore different genres and styles of music.

  • Setting up two new Satellite Training Choirs giving more local children the opportunity to access a wide range of genres and to perform in local venues.
  • Establishing an Indian Vocal Group in order to embrace and celebrate cultural diversity.
  • Initiating a Vocal Band in a local club, encouraging the young people involved to help choose repertoire and take ownership of the direction of the group.
  • Introducing a Rap Project in a local High School, giving children the opportunity to draw upon the expertise of local providers.
  • Working alongside and training staff in Children's Centres across the Borough in order to develop pre-school music.
  • Development on an Opera Project, in collaboration with vocal experts, in order to raise the aspirations of young people, many of whom will have had little or no experience in Opera.
  • Providing performance opportunities with events such as Voices in Action, inspiring young people to value their achievements and to be enthusiastic about continuing to develop their vocal skills.
