Ling Moor Primary School in Lincolnshire were recently presented with their Sing Up Platinum Award by the National Singing Ambassador, Howard Goodall, at their school in North Hykeham.
Howard congratulated the staff and pupils for being one of 26 Platinum Award schools in the whole of England. The pupils even gasped when they heard that there were over 20,000 primary schools in the country!
A school enjoying singing
The Acting Headteacher, Charlotte Hickerton, is also the Music Coordinator for the school and has ensured that singing remains a high-priority. Charlotte said, 'We are so proud that our children and staff love singing, it helps them to achieve and is also a lot of fun - it brings the whole school together!'
Assembly performance
Howard was inspired by the experience. 'I am very excited to have the opportunity to present this Platinum Award to Ling Moor Primary School. Making a visit like this and seeing how a school has embraced and is benefiting from regular singing is a hugely rewarding part of my role as the National Singing Ambassador.'
The choir finished off the singing assembly with a wonderful action song and they were accompanied by Howard improvising on piano - a fantastic finale to a magnificent singing event.
