The basis of this song is doubling numbers up to double six. Children could think of other things Mister Double Trouble might do twice, for higher numbers. His various DIY disasters can be used for many problem-solving activities using doubles.

Mister Double Trouble, he’ll fix it if he can.
But Mister Double Trouble’s not a very handy man!
Gets one nail and drops it in the glue.
Does it again: double 1 makes 2.
Mister Double Trouble, he’ll fix it if he can.
But Mister Double Trouble’s not a very handy man!
Snaps two hinges trying to mend a door.
Does it again: double 2 makes 4.
Mister Double Trouble, he’ll fix it if he can.
But Mister Double Trouble’s not a very handy man!
Hits three fingers — now he’s in a fix.
Does it again: double 3 makes 6.
Mister Double Trouble, he’ll fix it if he can.
But Mister Double Trouble’s not a very handy man!
Bends four screws when hanging up a gate.
Does it again: double 4 makes 8.
Mister Double Trouble, he’ll fix it if he can.
But Mister Double Trouble’s not a very handy man!
Breaks five pencils, hasn’t got a pen.
Does it again: double 5 makes 10.
Mister Double Trouble, he’ll fix it if he can.
But Mister Double Trouble’s not a very handy man!
Makes six holes when putting up a shelf.
Does it again: double 6 makes 12.
