Sing Up bags top radio award - Music Manifesto News

The Big School Sing Up has picked up a top gong at the Radio Advertising Awards.

Part of Sing Up, the Music Manifesto's National Singing Programme, the Big School Sing Up project invited primary schools to record themselves singing a song from the Sing Up Song Bank and upload it to a special website to share with other schools. Some of the recordings were then played out on the radio, with 781 schools and 64 local radio stations taking part across the country.

The project impressed judges who honoured the Big School Sing Up with the Innovation Award for Creative Use of Radio. The Sing Up team are, needless to say, delighted with the result.

"We asked primary schools to sing for us so that we can spread the message loud and clear that singing is great," said Sing Up Communications Manager Clare Whitmore. "It aids learning, builds confidence, unites children and is good fun!

"The Big School Sing Up gave children the chance to be radio stars and hopefully these children and teachers will continue to sing through engaging with the Sing Up programme, which offers schools everything they need to become a singing school."
