The Music Manifesto's national singing programme Sing Up has published its State of Play, charting its progress over the last 15 months in putting singing at the heart of primary school life.

Here are the headlines:

 

* Over half of all primary schools in England have registered with Sing Up

* Over 20,000 people have participated in training and CPD activity

* The Song Bank now contains over 200 songs, warm-ups and games

* Thirty Sing Up Area Leaders now cover the entire country

* Comprehensive national research reveals that Sing Up is working

 

The next phase, over 25 months, involves reaching the schools that for various reasons, have not yet engaged with Sing Up, to help them understand the value of singing as a cross-curricular learning tool.

The campaign is also exploring how to disseminate best practice beyond mainstream education, to children in care and those with special educational needs.
