Platinum School Gets a Gong!

North Lakes School celebrate ‘Innovation in the Arts’ award.

Platinum School Gets a Gong!

North Cumbria’s first Sing Up Platinum School scoop the ‘Innovation in the Arts’ award from the CN Group Education and Learning Golden Apple Awards, 2011. Martyn Soulsby and Chris Rolling from North Lakes School in Penrith accepted the award at the gala dinner on Friday 7 October 2011.

In this, the first year of a new award, the judges were delighted to see such a high standard from the flagship school, "North Lakes School is a wonderful example of what can be achieved through dedication and hard work. This achievement is simply on a scale not known in many other schools."

Mr Soulsby commented, "this prestigious award really pulls together the school’s Sing Up Gold and Platinum Awards, ArtsMark Gold and Creative Partnership Change School Status. It validates the approach that the school has taken, putting the Arts at the heart of the school’s curriculum and all the benefits this brings to our learning and teaching."

North Lakes School’s passion for the arts stems from a belief that children who think creatively and independently are more likely to discover things for themselves, to be open to new ideas and to be motivated to pursue topics of interest.

Their fantastic work with Sing Up and other creative initiatives not only provides opportunities for children but also offers staff and adults the chance to develop their skills by working with professional musicians, conductors and other practitioners.

Why not start your school on an awards journey and see how far it can take you?
