Choirs are more than about singing. Team work, friendship and understanding are important to making any choir work - but how do you develop these qualities? Primary choir Chesil Cover from Dorset know how!
They recently took six of their older choir members on a YHA Community Spirit camp in London to get them out of their comfort zones and closer together as a group.
With the help of adult leaders they negotiated public transport to find their Thameside hostel, made decisions on group activities, ice skated at Canary Wharf and performed their own talent show.
It was an uplifting experience for all involved. One pupil felt they'd learnt so much. 'This has been a great experience. We've done so much! It seems to me we are all one big family. I don't want to go home!'
Since returning home the children have taught their own warm-ups and even lead the choir themselves!
