The Clothesburger opera

London Children and Pegasus Opera journey into a magical musical world.

The Clothesburger opera

Opera. For a long time it has been associated with tales of high drama, love and war - but what about dragons in pink sparkly tops? New opera ‘The Clothesburger’ provided that... and a whole lot more!

Sing Up flagship Pegasus Opera Company has been working with over 420 children from 8 schools across London composing and devising an original opera about friendship, danger and adventure. It successfully premiered at the Southbank centre on 23rd March.

Composed by Errollyn Wallen and director Frances M Lynch, the adventures of central characters Trishi and Nick were depicted by the voices of the children, descriptive songs and colourful back drops.

After the performance Young Singing Leaders from each of the schools made a promise to keep singing alive in their schools. Judging by this great performance, we don’t doubt that one bit!
