We did it! More than 90,000 children around the world were involved in breaking the Guinness World Record of 13,418 signing singers perfoming together...
More than 800 school children, led by Sing Up Area Leader for Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes Area Fiona Firth, gathered in the Stoke Mandeville Stadium to sing and sign the New Seekers’ hit, ‘I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing’ (with some help from Ollie the Signing Monkey...).
A huge thanks and pat on the back to Continyou and Sign Health for organising the event.
Alongside this, Helen Bakeman and Andrea were very thrilled to present both St Joseph's Catholic Infant School and Prestwood Infant School with their Platinum Sing Up Awards - congratulations guys!
They're going to teach all of us at Sing Up HQ how to sign and sing now!

It has been so rewarding hearing about different schools that took part in sign2sing and the fun both the teachers and children had learning the song and signs. When I first suggested the Stoke Mandeville event and having so many SEN and Mainstream children together in the large sports hall sharing in a Big Sing Event culminating in the World Record attempt it did seem rather ambitious but seeing the childrens faces and the concentration as they sung and signed, we all knew we were part of something really special and we had achieved our goal!

The whole school from Chestnuts Primary School went to Stoke Mandeville on 9th Feb. It was a great afternoon. All of the children see signing and singing as a something that goes side by side quite naturally. It was great to that the BBC team from See Hear were there too and took the time to interview our deaf children. A very positive experience.
