Looking marvellous in their Sing Up baseball caps, Young Singing Leaders from High Consicliffe School, Mowden School and The Federation of Abbey Schools travelled with staff to each other’s sites to lead singing with different year groups. At the Federation of Abbey Schools, YSL’s from High Consicliffe brilliantly lead children through their favourite songs from the Sing Up Song Bank, including ‘Baby one, two, three’ and taught new songs with actions. When asked, the children explained that the YSL’s were ‘very, very good!’
Miss Wendy Aitken and Mrs Jane Solly from High Coniscliffe joined Miss Gerri Greenan from the Federation of Abbey Schools for NSUD celebrations. A strong singing link has been forged between the staff who regularly share ideas and songs together following a Big Sing event in Darlington in 2010 where over 300 parents and twice as many children sang together!
Mrs McCue, Headteacher at the Federation of Abbey Schools joined the YSL’s, staff and children in song for NSUD and explained ‘Sing Up has made a real difference to our schools; the excellent example of how High Coniscliffe have embraced Sing Up and singing to achieve their Gold Award has inspired us all! We even invested in a projector screen for our main hall to further support the children to sing; they really love it!’
After a morning of fun, children at the Federation of Abbey Schools waved goodbye to the brilliant Young Singing Leaders, who - armed with their voices - went back to High Coniscliffe School vibrant with what they had achieved.
Why not follow in their footsteps and perform your own song from our Song Bank?
