Children from our Canvey Island Sing Up Community will be performing at the Paddocks Community Centre in Canvey Island on 18th February as part of a special singing celebration.
The event is the culmination of two terms of Sing Up workshops in 10 Canvey schools, delivered by Essex Music Services and Royal Opera House Education. The workshops aim to increase pupil and teacher engagement with singing and develop the range of repertoire and skill level within each school.
Each group will perform a new opera or folksong composition, with all of the performances taking on an Olympic theme. The schools are in the district which will host the mountain biking event at Hadleigh in 2012 and Sing Up Canvey Island has been awarded a London 2012 Inspire Mark as the project is inspired by the Olympic and Paralympic values.
