500 York primary school children light up the Royal Albert Hall recently, performing 'Ode on the 350th Birthday of Mr Purcell’ to a packed audience at the Music for Youth Schools Prom.
The specially commissioned piece tells the story of Purcell’s life and the major events - including a representation of the fire of London complete with flags and brightly coloured T-shirts.
The project was the result of collaboration between the National Centre for Early Music, York, and Sing Up. Children from 11 primary schools across York performed.
Have you been part of a great Sing Up concert? If so, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us.
