Sing Up Son!

Singing - it's not just for girls!

A training session purely for male leaders and teachers took place at the Sage Gateshead in October. It's aim? To allow the leaders to help boys develop confidence, self-esteem, and performance skills.

The training was delivered by three male practitioners, each bringing their own experiences and unique points of view to proceedings.

Participants explored curricular links in songs, dealing with the changes in vocal cords during puberty and helpful hints on encouraging boys to sing. There was even time for an introduction to beat boxing

A huge amount was learned by everyone involved. One participant was very exicted. 'Being part of just male voices – my friendship groups are rarely male only and I surprised myself by enjoying it so much. It sounded great and it felt great!'
