In May we commissioned an evaluation of our Awards programme. It aimed to look at school experiences of both working towards their Award and how it impacted on their school life. From there, we hoped to find out if there was anything more we could do to help.
Our independent evaluators produced two online surveys and conducted a series of phone interviews to teachers and support staff – and there were some positive findings. They found that working towards an Award has a positive impact on schools and it is an effective means of embedding the benefits of singing for both children and staff.
One respondent said: “Many schools in my area have started on the Awards journey and have commented on how the atmosphere in their whole school has changed and how the pupils themselves are doing better academically and socially.”
The evaluation showed us that there are still improvements that we can make in supporting schools on their journeys - and we are constantly working to put these in place.
Thank you to all those who gave their valuable feedback, and to all the schools that have worked so hard to get their Awards. If you are on your Awards journey, best of luck!

It's great to have a positive evaluation of the SingUp intiative. However, I think the main area of concern that it didn't address, is whether the initiative will be able to continue once the funding runs out.
