A choir consisting of children from 70 London primary schools sang their hearts out in front of the City Hall in London this weekend to launch the Mayor's Thames Festival.
The choir, which was formed with the help of Sing Up, sang the world premiere of 'River Songs', a mass choral work inspired by the Thames, written by renowned composer Jonathon Dove. The performance demonstrated the hard work of children and teachers - and the final song ‘Tower Bridge’ featured the bridge opening, heralding the start of the festival.
National Singing Ambassador, Howard Goodall was ecstatic at how the day went. 'I am delighted that Sing Up has been able to help ensure that children in London's schools came together as part of the festival.' he said. 'I am sure that the experience will be one which the children, and their teachers, will treasure for years to come'
As you can see from the pictures above and below, the event was an amazing spectacle!

Thanks Mrs Carpenter, it's a shame you couldn't be there. Everyone involved had a great time! We don't have any sound clips from the day, but if we get any through we will add them straight away.
In the meantime, check out our Local Events microsite (marked with the 'van' tab on the left of this page) for details on concerts that are happening in your local area. Hopefully see you at one soon!

Wish I still taught in London! I'd have been there. Well done all. Looks great. (Can we have sound clips on here about it?)
