A sell out Sing Up!

Children from local schools in Branston, Lincolshire perform at a packed Sing Up concert!

A sell out Sing Up!

300 children's voices rang to the roof tops in Lincoln Cathedral on 23rd June, as pupils from 14 primary schools came together to sing to a packed audience of over a thousand.

The event was the culmination of the five month Branston Cluster Choir project, which encourages local schools to sing together regularly.

Sing Up Area Leader for Lincolnshire, SoundLINCS, provided a team of specialist music facilitators to run workshops in each school on a fortnightly basis. Nominated Choir Leaders in each school also took the mantle arranging and leading practices for the event.

The concert was a roaring success. The sell-out audience (including the Dean of Lincoln) gave the choir a standing ovation.

Were the kids anxious before the performing to such a big crowd? One child proudly told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: ‘When I start singing, I’ll be alright’ – whoever said nerves can get the better of you?

This was a great event for both children and adults taking part. The children thoroughly deserved their standing ovation, for all the effort and dedication they had put in, to arrive at the finished event.
