On 11 and 12 December 2012, Grimsdell Mill Hill Pre-Preparatory School celebrated one year as a Platinum Sing Up Award School with their Year 1 and 2 Christmas performances. They got the whole audience up on their feet dancing and singing to their finale song, Merry Christmas Everyone.
2013 will be a year of singing for Grimsdell. They're already looking forward to their Year 2 singers performing with 8000 children as part of Young Voices at the O2 and their Year 1 and 2 Toffee Bear Choir singing at the Music for Youth Regional Festival at the Royal Festival Hall. Grimsdell will also be getting their local community singing together, by organising another North London Singing Festival with six local schools!
They've also got a Big Sing Up Day musical extravaganza planned for the 14 March for National Sing Up Day. Everyone, including the headteacher, staff, parents and grandparents will share their singing talents. The day will be jam-packed full of singing; starting with a Big Sing Up Assembly in the morning with whole school singing, year group performances and singing led by young singing leaders from Reception through to Year 2. Songs already scheduled are Hot potato, Sunshine in my heart, This little light of mine, My God, Gospel Medley and The bare necessities. They'll also be singing the 2013 National Sing Up Day song Can you hear my voice? joining our nationwide Sing Up choir! Don't forget to download it too and send in your videos to join our digital Big Sing.
Chao Cox, Music Coordinator at Grimsdell says, ‘We wish all the Sing Up schools a marvellous singing 2013. Happy Singing Everyone!’
