National Singing Ambassador Howard Goodall is more in demand in media circles than ever. Fresh from his appearance on Radio 4's You and Yours, he penned a piece for today's Independent, discussing the need for the National Singing Programme, Sing Up.
Howard lays out all those reasons that people in the sector know so well: the health benefits of singing, from reducing asthma to helping speech disorders; the way singing increases self-esteem, promotes collaboration and acts as an emotional release. And that's before you even delve into the riches of the music itself.
None of this will come as news to teachers, music leaders and singers, but it's about time we sang this messge from the rooftops. Nice one, Howard.
