Hum & Colour
  • Ask your child to select their favourite colouring book .
  • Ask them to identify several areas, people or things in the picture.
  • Then get them to start colouring and humming a song. Every time they move to another portion of the picture, they have to hum a different song.
  • If there are multiple children, this works very well as a round if the children are colouring the same picture.
Sock Puppet Fun
  • Grab an old sock.
  • Get your child to stick on a face.
  • Then tell them to start singing!
  • If they want they can ask others to be a part of their puppet musical. They can put on their own version of High School Musical, or Annie.
Sing A Story
  • Get your child to select their favourite story book.
  • Ask them to sing the story out loud, using different voices when a different character enters the story.
Special Effects - Get them to star in their own movie, including special effects!
  • Ask your child to read their favourite story aloud (if you can, record them) and get them to add sound effects as they happen in the story.
  • Is someone walking up the hall? Give them a shoe for each hand to mimic walking.
  • Is someone is rustling in the bushes? They can twist a broom to make the noise.
  • Is there a fire? Get them to squish up some bubble wrap. Thunderstorm? Pop the bubble wrap.
  • Is there someone shouting in the distance? Cut the bottom off a plastic milk bottle and get them to speak or sing in to the top.
One Word Songs
  • Someone starts a song based around a familiar song and makes up the lyrics. The first person starts with a word, and the song gets built as each person sings an additional word.
Sherlock Song
  • Guess the song using handwritten clues.
  • Someone thinks of a well-known song.
  • Using a large sheet of paper and markers, one person tries to draw clues about the song, while the others try to guess which song you are drawing out.
  • The first person to guess the song gets a point. Alternate people/teams.
Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes
  • Based on the song - children learn about different parts of the body.
  • Get them to sing the song while pointing to each part of the body, and singing about that part.
Memory Game
  • This game should be played by at least two people. Have everyone sit in a circle.
  • Have someone start singing a song, after a couple of notes, stop.
  • Have the next person sing the first person's song, and then sing their own song.
  • The next person should now sing the very first person's song, the next person's song, then their own song. Keep going until someone forgets one of the songs. Then start again!
