A great game for practicing listening skills! This can be played inside or outside and encourages children to try different ways of moving their bodies.
- Sing the following to any tune: ‘You walk and you walk and you walk and you stop. (REPEAT and replace the word ‘walk’ with other verbs such as skip, hop, run, dance, jump, or wriggle)
- Put on some music and dance around the room with your child. When the music stops, everyone falls down. When the music begins again, everyone gets up and dances some more.
- Pretend to walk very carefully through the jungle and mime the actions to suggest each animal. It’s easy to make up more verses for this rhyme.
Walking through the jungle,
What did I see?
A big lion roaring
At me, me, me!
Walking through the jungle,
What did I see?
A baby monkey laughing
At me, me, me!
Walking through the jungle,
What did I see?
A slippery snake hissing
At me, me, me!
