The North West Music Partnership is a Sing Up Flagship project to encourage young singing leaders, and hopes to lay foundations for the future of singing throughout children’s secondary education and into adulthood.
Projects aim to inspire singing activities across the two cities of Manchester and Salford, and are making a significant and lasting impact on whole schools. During the projects, North West Music Partnership will share knowledge and understanding with the wider music education sector, in order to develop resources that can sustain singing activity.
A key objective is to deepen the impact and sustainability of good practice. Part of this is developing resources, in particular music recordings, SMART Board materials and free training. The project will also create singing showcase opportunities for years 3-7.
Run by the North West Music Partnership, Manchester Singing Square is a project to engage all Manchester primary schools in singing activities, and Salford Jump Start to Singing is a curriculum-based singing and musical literacy support programme for schools.
North West Music Partnership is now investigating how other areas might adapt and use versions of the Manchester Singing School and the Salford Jump Start to Singing projects for use in schools.
