The Association of British Choral Directors (ABCD) enables and supports choral leader training. It plays an important role in teachers’ professional development in leading singing and training young singing leaders.

ABCD is creating long-term sustainability for singing by providing mentoring for teachers in their schools, raising awareness of the importance of singing within the curriculum and giving pupils greater access to singing.

Through its work, the ABCD encourages teachers to develop and share their knowledge, skills and understanding through instruction, research and experience. It also enables teachers to source new song repertoire and lead a range of singing styles, often working in partnership with local music services.

Leading from the Front is a programme to improve the skills and confidence of teachers and leaders who lead singing in schools. The programme will help to promote singing in primary schools and build a network of singing leaders that can share knowledge in their community.
