Sing Up Southampton

Sing Up Southampton runs three projects: i-Sing, Bevois to Bollywood and Everyone Sing.

i-Sing
i-Sing is dedicated to getting 9-14 year olds singing. In particular boys, who are less engaged with singing at this age. Workshops with upper primary age boys demonstrate how cool singing can be, and provides opportunities to join a free, city-wide singing group.

i-Sing also work with sports teams in three secondary schools to write team songs and create a music CD. This project develops into year 7-9 vocal workshops, with the sports team singers as role models.

Bevois to Bollywood
Bevois to Bollywood teaches Bollywood singing techniques to pupils, parents and carers in two primary schools in the Bevois and Bargate areas of the city. The project is delivered through weekly workshops, and is run in partnership with Art Asia.

Everyone Sing
Everyone Sing is a cross-generational project that creates links between primary schools, local sheltered housing and retirement homes, building on the work established through the Silver Song Clubs, a project that established regular sessions of singing and music making for older people in care homes.

Everyone Sing works in primary schools partnered with sheltered housing centres throughout the city. Through fortnightly sessions with older people, children build friendships with elders in their local community, sharing songs, music and stories.
