Sing Up Greenwich

Sing Up Greenwich incorporates a partnership with Greenwich Theatre and Sense of Sound to deliver an exciting two-year programme of research, training, performance and sustainable singing development across the Greenwich borough.

A three month research and consultation period involved schools and colleges, community and youth groups, arts and music organisations, mother and baby groups, nurseries, singers, musicians and music services to develop a strategic overview of Greenwich, its singing activities and aspirations.

After the research and report period, a programme of taster sessions launched in two parallel strands by each organisation – one in schools, and one in the wider community.

Taster sessions embrace stylistic breadth, age appropriate activity, cultural diversity, gender issues and community involvement, and include carers and parents. Through existing work, a range of music styles feature in each session, including musical theatre, gospel, R'n'B, pop, rock, jazz and a cappella.

Sense of Sound delivers a unique brand of music training. Initially established in Liverpool, the organisation was instrumental in the cultural transformation of Merseyside.
