Sing Up Cumbria

Sing Up Cumbria's programme is delivered as an extended service by SoundWave, working in partnership with Learning Support Music.

Projects run across three clusters of extended schools in each area of the county: Allerdale and Carlisle, Copeland and Eden, and Barrow and the South Lakes.

The programme is establishing and sustaining singing activities, developing resources for wider dissemination, promoting the health benefits of singing and raising the profile of singing as an accessible and enjoyable activity for everyone.

Each residency develops its own programme of activities, and all the school clusters are brought together through training, workshop and performance events.

SoundWave is engaging three vocal leaders to work within the clusters of Wigton, Penrith and the islands of Walney and Barrow, and is planning at least two large scale performances.

Part of the Soundwave Festival of Voice 2009, Songlines is a singing celebration of Cumbria, in collaboration with Sing Up Dales. The performance is a key milestone in an epic two-week singing journey from west to east coasts, featuring young people across the country.
