A: The consortium managing Sing Up on behalf of Government (Youth Music, Faber Music and The Sage Gateshead) is working to develop a sustainable business model for the future. Updates on progress and plans for the future will be shared as they are confirmed through e-broadcasts etc. To ensure you are kept up to date on these developments, please register with Sing Up, and mark that you are happy to receive emails from us (these are occasional and from Sing Up only).
A: We plan to create forums where you can discuss and share good practice. In the meantime do keep in touch with us through Facebook, Twitter and direct with the Secondary Development Team via email - secondary@singup.org.
A: By registering with Sing Up you will receive a copy of the Sing Up magazine. However, please note that this is a resource we developed for primary schools and we are currently unable to produce a secondary version of this magazine.
Note: For Teacher registrations, the magazine is a shared resource. Only one nominated teacher per school receives the magazine. The good news is, two copies are sent per school, ask your school's recipient to see the issues. For further information check out the FAQ: 'How can I become the nominated person to receive the magazine?'.
A: Currently the Awards are just for primary schools. We may, in the future, look at developing an award which is more relevant for secondary schools, as well as looking at individual awards for teachers and possibly pupils as well. We will let all registered schools know if we begin to develop anything.
A: In theory no, but it is not possible for us to keep in touch with you about developments specifically relating to working with secondary-aged pupils easily – ie through regular newsletters – if you are not registered as a school. We therefore would like to change your registration status. Having registered as an individual it is likely that we don’t currently know you work within a secondary school. Please contact secondary@singup.org to let us know you wish to re-register as a secondary school and we can then delete your existing registration so that you can re-register, (we ask you to do this part of the process so that you can use the same email address and choose your own password etc).

We ask you to do this part of the process so that you can use the same email address and choose your own password etc. In early November we will be in touch with you to let you know that we will be deleting your existing registration and to give you a step-by-step guide to registering as a school. If you have any questions then do let us know (secondary@singup.org). A school can have as many staff registered as wish to, so please do encourage all your colleagues to register too.
A: Whilst Sing Up is aimed at Primary education, we know that transitional work in Nursery schools and other early years settings is essential to a child's development. Providing that you work in England and that you work with children, then select Organisation and fill out the form as prompted.
A: Whilst Sing Up has, over the past four years, been aimed at Primary education, we know and have supported transitional work with Secondary schools and they have been able to register as organisations. However, as part of our development work this year (2001/12) registration as a secondary school is now available and there are specific secondary resources being created. You should therefore be able to find your school within the lists of schools provided. If you cannot find your school please contact secondary@singup.org for help.
A: Due to a change in our licensing and funding, anyone viewing the site outside of England will only be able to listen to Public Domain (PD) songs within the Song Bank. This is due to Sing Up being a government funded programme for practitioners working with primary school aged children within England.
However, users viewing the site outside of England can still sign-up and receive the following benefits once logged in:
The exemption of this is BFPO schools, who technically have an English postcode. Teachers within these establishments can sign-up as ‘teachers’: select ‘teacher’ and ‘yes’ to working with primary school children and within England. If you are a teacher in a BFPO school, and cannot hear the songs, please contact us, and we will fix this for you.
Please note that this restriction also applies to people who have registered in England, but are using a computer abroad.
For more information check out our FAQ on 'Which role should I choose when I register?'
A: Yes! They are all available to order through our online store. They are free of charge; all you have to pay is postage and packing.
You can also read and print all of the articles in our Magazine Area, and hear all of the magazine songs in the Song Bank.
